Blackberry to release two new phones

Blackberry announced it's supposed to be successor to their Q lineup, the Passport and Classic.

The Passport is rather an unusual device with squarish design, featuring a square 4.5" 1440x1440 display (a QHD resolution on 1:1 screen) with three rows QWERTY keyboard and is powered by a Snapdragon 800 quad processor.

The Classic on the other hand has a smaller 3.5" screen with the same resolution resulting in an enormous 500+ ppi . It also features the classic optical trackpad in line with the QWERTY keyboard. It is also powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor like it's larger siblings.

No words on it's availability yet.

Xiaomi, Welcome to Philippines

Xiaomi, a chinese smartphone manufacturer lately expanded it's fields by opening their franchise here in the Philippines.

It created a hype because Xiaomi is known for their cheap but highly capable smartphones, like the RedMi and Mi3

Xiaomi started as a software maker known for their highly customized Android UI called MiUi and then they expanded their bussiness into smartphone industry that has increasing number of franchises throughout Asia.

For some who are doubting about the quality of their phones. Try to get a hand on it first before criticizing because "A book is not judged by it's cover" referring to the fact that all of their phones are made in China.

So again Xiaomi ! Welcome to the Philippines, I'm sure local brands will be challenged by the increasing number of chinese manufacturers here in the Philippines, it's all about competetiveness.

Throwback Thursday : Cherry Mobile Flare S100

Late 2012, local brand Cherry Mobile released one of it's successful smartphone to date, the Flare.

Dubbed as the "Dual Core ng Bayan" (Nation's Dual Core) due to the fact that this phone has a dual core processor which is expensive on that time at a price of just Php.3999, to cheap for a phone with that specs.

I remember when many people are eager to get it and had to spend hours on the line to take a hands on it.

But despite being a success, it had too many compromises that turned off the users giving them the reason to sell it.

One of them is the so-so battery life, the famous of the compromises, the 1500mah battery on this device is too short for a dual core device with 4" screen.

Another one is the lackluster volume quality coming from the 3.5mm headset jack, even the expensive earphones doesn't improve the sound quality, and lastly is the mentioned IPS display which isn't real because the top-side viewing angle is crappy.

So that's it folks the most successful phone by a local brand, the Dual core ng bayan.

Starmobile Quest : A game changing phone?

Starmobile Quest: The local company's newest "Selfie" phone

Happyman by Starmobile continuosly posted different teasers about their upcoming phone which is hidden under the name "StarmobileQ". Due to different teasers providing the highlights of the said phone including the f/2.0 lens aperture, it gained a hype among smartphone users who likes to take photos using their phones.

Then this week, they uncovered the phone  and named it Quest following their naming traditions.

Some thought that this phone is the high end smartphone leaked from unbox.ph's site featuring a Snapdragon 801 processor and showing it's Antutu score of 30,000+.

But hey this phone also sports a Snapdragon chipset but not like the one found on the said high end phone. This phone sports a Snapdragon 200 quad core chipset with 1GB of RAM, for the optics which is the highlight of this phone, it sports a 12MP Sony sensor with
f/2.0 aperture lens and a 5MP front facing Toshiba camera for people who loves taking selfies.

Cherry Mobile Omega Aeon : Last of Omega

"The most anticipated smartphone of Cherry Mobile" it really is, everytime Cherry Mobile reveals a new smartphone on their page, comments are always "#WeWantAeon". So what's so special about these phone?

According to the specs, it has a 5" IPS OGS Display, a Snapdragon Quad-core chipset @ 1.2Ghz, a pair of 13MP and 5MP rear facing and front facing camera respectively. Pretty common specs right? But if all of these for only Php.5999? That's a run for your money, but specs don't judge the performance, so I am expecting to get a hand on it or to get a unit from them to review.

If you have experienced using these device feel free to leave your comments below.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.1

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, the larger of the two tablets unveiled by Samsung.

As the usual with the aesthetics, it is a thin, large and plastic tablet. It has the same dotted matrix pattern on the back of  Galaxy S5, with the faux leather texture.

On the front is the gigantic 10.5" Super AMOLED Screen which is accompanied by recent and back softkeys with the physical home button on the center. This design is a bit hard for some to use due to it's size and it doesn't come with the S-Pen found on the note line, so you will need to stretch your hands further to reach every side of the screen. A fingerprint scanner is found on the home button

It is powered by an Exynos octa core chipset, a 3GB of RAM for full multitasking experience which is essential for a tablet this size.

For the optics, it has an 8MP camera with LED flash and 2.1MP in front.

Full specifications will be updated.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S Line : New generation tablets to beat ?

(Due to difficulty in uploading photos, I'm just going to write my opinion)

So it's unveiled ! Last June 12, Samsung uncovered two new tablets in their new Galaxy Tab S line.

The first one is the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, It's not your typical mid sized tablet having an enormous 8.4" of Super AMOLED screen goodness that will surely give you well saturated pictures, It's the korean company's comeback from using the conventional TFT screens on their tablet.

Here is the specifications :
©GSMArena.com

- DISPLAY: 8.4" Super AMOLED 2560x1600 Display
- CHIPSET: Exynos octa 5442 w/ Quad-core Cortex A15 @ 1.9Ghz plus quad-core Cortex A7 @ 1.3Ghz (Wi-Fi version), 3GB RAM
CHIPSET: Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 w/ Quad-core Krait 400 @ 2.3Ghz, Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB RAM (LTE Version)
- CAMERA: 8MP Main, 2.1MP Front
- OS: Android 4.4 Kitkat
- STORAGE : Available in 16GB/32GB variants, MicroSD up to 128GB
- 7900MaH Battery
- S-Fingerprint

This specifications will surely make your jaw drop, But as the usual, Samsung sticked with plastic for the materials featuring the same dotted matrix back from their Galaxy S5.

IMO, this tablet can be a contender if it is priced the same as it's competitors with the same or near specifications. If you want a new tablet with the right size and a specs dedicated for your needs, this is the tablet for you.
